Your brand on every phone. Their answers on your Mac.

AirExtend+ is AirExtend for events and companies: your logo, name and colours on the attendee’s screen, online forms to answer on the phone, and every answer saved to a folder on your Mac the moment it arrives. No cloud, no account.

Your identity

Logo and name
Your company name replaces AirExtend at the top of the page and in the app, with your logo next to it. A plate in a colour of your choice goes behind the logo, so a logo made for white also reads on a dark page. The Mac suggests the plate for you when the logo would not stand out.
Your colours
Accent, background and text colours repaint the whole screen. Without them the app looks as it always does.
Text above and below
A line above the page and a line below it: the event name, the Wi-Fi hint, a thank-you.
A welcome notice
One message that every phone shows once. Change the text and it shows again.
The same everywhere
Any current browser, the Android app on phones and Android TV, and the LG webOS app. The iPhone and iPad app follows after Apple’s review.
Powered by 278labs
Every AirExtend app shows “Powered by 278labs” at the bottom, and in AirExtend+ it stays under your branding. It is the maker’s signature, not an advertisement.

Online forms

Five kinds of question
Yes or no, free text, a number between limits, one or several options, and photo answers that attendees take or choose.
Pictures in questions
A question can show a picture: a slide, a floor plan, a product.
Steps and optional questions
Long forms run step by step. Only the questions you mark required block the next step, so a name or an e-mail address can stay optional when you want to know who answered but not force it.
Answers saved as they arrive
Each answer and each photo is written at once to a folder on your Mac you can choose: an answers.csv per form and a photos folder. No save button. The app checks it can write to the folder when it starts, and says so if it cannot.
Private by design
Answers are anonymous unless you ask for a name. They stay on your Mac: nothing goes to a cloud or to 278labs.
Sound and picture keep going
A form or the welcome notice never interrupts the stream.

Phones answer, TVs keep showing

Your choice for TVs
A TV may be showing the broadcast. By default forms and the welcome notice go to everything except TVs; two switches on the Mac turn them on for TVs. The TV always keeps your branding and the picture.
Photos from a phone
A television has no camera. A photo question on a TV says to answer on the phone.

Where it stands

In development
The Mac app, the web page, the Android and Android TV app and the LG webOS app already have the identity and the forms. The iPhone and iPad app follows after Apple’s review. Licences and terms are not final.
The regular AirExtend stays free
AirExtend+ builds on the same sound and picture engine as the free app. Nothing in the free app is taken away.
Early access
Organisers who write now are told first and can shape the first version. sapar@278labs.co.uk

Plain limits

Local network only
Forms and answers travel inside the venue network, not over mobile data.
One Mac collects the answers
The answers of a form arrive on the Mac that runs the event. There is no web dashboard.
The signature stays
“Powered by 278labs” cannot be removed.
Not a survey service
No sending of forms by e-mail, no reports in the app: you get a CSV and the photos.

Questions

What is AirExtend+?

AirExtend+ is the version of AirExtend for events and companies. It does everything AirExtend does, streams the Mac’s sound and screen to the phones, tablets and TVs on the Wi-Fi network, and adds the organiser’s own identity (logo, name, colours, texts) and online forms that attendees answer on their phones.

Is it available now and what does it cost?

AirExtend+ is in development and being tested; the Mac app and the web, Android, Android TV and LG webOS clients already have it, the iPhone and iPad app follows. The regular AirExtend stays free. Terms for AirExtend+ are by arrangement while it is tested: write to sapar@278labs.co.uk to be told first.

What does “Powered by 278labs” mean?

278labs is the studio that makes AirExtend. Every AirExtend app and page shows the line “Powered by 278labs” at the bottom, and in AirExtend+ it stays under the organiser’s own branding. Searching for 278labs or AirExtend by 278labs leads to this site.

What kinds of questions can a form have?

Yes or no, free text, a number with limits, one or several options, and photos that attendees take or choose. A question can carry a picture, a form can have several steps, and any question can be optional, for example a name or an e-mail address if you want to know who answered.

Where do the answers go?

Straight to a folder on the organiser’s Mac, as they arrive: an answers.csv per form and a photos folder. There is no save button and nothing goes to a cloud or to 278labs. The folder is your choice and the app checks that it can write to it as soon as it starts. A copy also stays in the app’s own folder.

Do TVs show the forms and the welcome notice?

Not unless the organiser switches that on. A TV may be showing the broadcast, so by default forms and the welcome notice go to phones, tablets and computers, while the TV keeps the branding and the picture. A photo question on a TV tells the person to answer on their phone.

Do forms interrupt the sound or the picture?

No. A form or the welcome notice opens over the page without touching the audio and video, and on Android the picture keeps running underneath.

Which devices show the identity and the forms?

Any current browser on a phone, tablet or computer, the Android app on phones and Android TV, and the LG webOS app. The iPhone and iPad app follows after Apple’s review.

Can the “Powered by 278labs” line be removed?

No. It is part of every AirExtend app, including AirExtend+, and stays on screen under the organiser’s branding.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. The Mac, the forms and the answers all stay on the venue network. Nothing is sent to 278labs, and there is no account and no analytics.
